Investing in affordable housing in the Elk Valley

>

Watch this video to learn more about how we're working with the Elk Valley Family Society and Elkford Housing Society to help address local housing needs.

Housing is essential to building strong, vibrant communities. That’s why we’re working with partners across the Elk Valley to help support affordable housing solutions that make it easier for people and families to live, work and thrive in the region they call home. Since 2022, we've invested more than $2 million in funding for affordable housing initiatives.

In Fernie, EVR provided $400,000 toward the redevelopment of the Old Firehall, a project that will create 44 new housing units and provide a permanent home for the Elk Valley Family Society. EVR also contributed $400,000 to the Pine Avenue Childcare and Affordable Housing Project, which will deliver 27 housing units and 100 childcare spaces, including dedicated housing for early childhood educators.

In Sparwood, EVR supported Timbers Landing with $100,000 in funding, helping bring additional housing options to the community. In Elkford, EVR contributed $1.25 million toward a 25-unit housing development for seniors and people with disabilities, expanding access to much-needed accessible housing.
