Our Story is also Nicholas'

As part of our 25 years of activities, we are going on an adventure and following some of the members of our Raglan family during their time "off." These visits are an opportunity to discover a new side of our colleagues and to introduce you to these people without whom our story would be impossible to tell.

As one of our longest serving employees, Nicholas proudly embodies the spirit of the Raglan family. He began his career even before the start of our operations, in 1995, when he oversaw cleaning the site previously occupied by another mining company. Now a flight regulator, Nicholas will be retiring (well deserved) next March.

It was the search for peace and simplicity that led Nic and his wife Danielle to leave Montreal for Rouyn in 1987.

36 years later, he still lives there peacefully. We accompanied him on a beautiful summer day to his camp in the Abitibi wilderness.

26 years at Raglan Mine

  • Zodiac sign: Aquarius

Favourite meal at the mine site cafeteria: The monthly dinners are delicious!  But I also like traditional Inuit food, like arctic char, mussels, beluga etc.

Ideal day off: At my camp near Rouyn, walking around and chopping firewood.

A memory: At the time, the Makkivik Corporation had launched a cruise offer on the Ungava Bay. The first year, they invited active companies to send representatives. That's how I had the chance to live a magnificent expedition at sea for three days, visiting multiple islands and even the remains of an old mine in Aupaluk.

Something your colleagues don't know about you: At home, I am a much calmer person than I am in the mine.

During my time off, I tend to keep to myself, but when it comes to hunting season, I spend my time with people I really like, including several of my colleagues, who have become real friends over the years.
