What we do
We produce high quality steelmaking coal, a key transition-enabling resource that is a necessary input material for steel – helping construct the transportation, infrastructure, and technology of the future. From everyday household appliances to critical infrastructure such as rail, bridges, hospitals and schools, steelmaking coal is an essential input into the steel used in products that can improve the quality of life for people around the world.
Responsible mining in the Elk Valley
EVR operates four steelmaking coal mines in the Elk Valley of British Columbia, providing jobs for approximately 5,500 people. We are committed to responsible resource development, environmental performance and water quality in the region, and building strong partnerships with Indigenous Peoples and within the communities where we operate.

Steelmaking coal
Steel has an important role in society today. Global population growth, increased urbanization, and a growing middle class are expected to drive long-term demand for steel and the steelmaking coal required to produce it.
