Loading an unloading nickel

Nickel concentrate from Raglan Mine in Nunavik is carried on the MV Arvik I. This vessel is capable of making eight voyages annually, carrying a maximum of 240,000 tonnes of concentrate per year.

Nickel matte from our Sudbury smelter arrives at the Port of Québec by train and is then loaded onto ships bound for our refinery in Norway.

Nickel is processed in closed facilities to minimize dust emissions. The only areas where nickel is not 100% covered are during the unloading of concentrate and loading of nickel matte. Other measures are in place to minimize potential dust emissions, including fogging systems and integrated real-time dust monitoring equipment.

  • Concentrate storage building

  • Railcar loading and unloading facilities
