Our economic contributions
As Canada's largest steelmaking coal producer and one of the world’s largest seaborne exporters of steelmaking coal, EVR is a significant contributor to the local, provincial, and national economies.
Our gross domestic product (GDP) contributions account for roughly 70% of B.C.’s mining sector GDP and roughly 12% of Canada’s entire mining sector GDP. EVR is also one of Canada’s leading mining employers, with a workforce of approximately 5,500 employees across our corporate offices and active sites in 2024.

EVR is dedicated to the communities where we operate and to creating lasting benefits for our employees, neighbours, and the Indigenous Peoples of the Elk Valley. As part of this commitment, we support local initiatives through sponsorships, community and charitable programs, and participation in local events. In 2025, we committed more than $25 million to community investment.
