A Raglan Mine Experience
For Raglan Mine's 25th anniversary of operations, we launched a very special contest to help our employees discover another facet of the company. It is in this context that the Win a Raglan Mine Experience contest allowed six of them to live unforgettable moments.
Winners of prize #2, Jarvis, dry attendant, and Maxime, industrial project manager, had the chance to discover the Nickel’s Journey. Their adventure first took them to the coreshack to learn how to detect the presence of nickel during exploration.
Second stop? A visit underground, which allowed them to understand the work involved in extracting the ore. Then, they went to the concentrator to see first-hand the steps required to reach a nickel concentration of 18 to 20% in the ore.
Finally, the two colleagues drove to Deception Bay, where they not only witnessed the loading of the concentrate to the ship, but also had the privilege of boarding the Arvik I for a tour.
An unforgettable part of this experience was getting to know my colleague, Jarvis. He taught me a lot about Inuit culture, the language - Inuktitut, respect for elders and the various traditional activities of Nunavimmiut. It was a very enriching experience on many levels!
