NOTICE TO CITIZENS: CEZinc, along with the municipalities of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague, and Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka, would like to inform citizens that a public alert drill will take place on May 7th at 11 a.m.

The operation will last between 5 and 10 minutes. While the sirens may be heard beyond the targeted area, only businesses and residents of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield located within a 3.5 km radius of the CEZinc plant will receive a test message from the Automated Emergency Messaging System (SAM).

NO action is required on your part. The end of the siren will signal the conclusion of the drill.

Emergency alert exercise on November 23, 2018

On November 23th, 2018, CEZinc, in collaboration with the City of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, will conduct a public alert exercise by activating its two sirens and the automated messaging system (SAM). This activity is necessary to ensure the proper functioning of CEZinc’s emergency procedures in the event of a major industrial accident and will allow residents within the perimeter to practice shelter-in-place instructions.

The exercise will begin at 11:30 a.m., at which time both the sirens and the SAM system will be activated. The exercise is scheduled to end no later than 12:00 p.m. When the SAM is activated, residents and businesses located within a 2.4 km radius of the plant who are registered with the SAM will receive an automated phone message with instructions to follow. As part of this simulation, we invite the targeted population to follow the directions provided in the phone message. When the sirens are turned off, the exercise will be over, and a new message will be sent through the SAM indicating the end of the alert exercise.
