Raglan Mine Once Again Certified ISO 14001!
In October 2016, Raglan Mine has been assessed and registered as meeting the requirements of ISO 14001. Glencore's Integrated Nickel Operation production chain is now ISO certified from extraction to refining.
What is ISO 14001?
ISO 14001 certifies that a company effectively manages the environmental impacts of its operations. It enhances the trust and confidence of stakeholders and helps the company keep its social permit to operate. While the systems developed to maintain this accreditation were operational, the certification expired in 2013.
How did we get ISO 14001 certified?
Our Environmental Management System (EMS) is based on risk management. When operations are likely to cause impacts on the environment, we identify and implement appropriate monitoring measures for reducing these impacts. On a day-to-day basis, this means implementing spill management procedures, managing mine waste, using and servicing dust collectors, adding chemicals to control effluent quality, spreading dust control products, etc.
As operators in the Canadian Arctic, we recognize the importance of operating responsibly within this unique environment. That is why we apply the highest standards regarding governance and environmental protection.
