EVR and City of Fernie announce the purchase of a new ice resurfacer
EVR and the City of Fernie are pleased to announce EVR has purchased a new ice resurfacer to be used at the Fernie Memorial Area to prepare the ice for hockey, figure skating and other events.
The new ice resurfacer has been officially ordered and is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2026. Once in service, the upgraded equipment will enhance ice quality, improve operational efficiency, and support the many user groups who rely on Fernie’s arena facilities throughout the year.
“EVR values its strong relationship with the City of Fernie and is proud to contribute to projects that enhance quality of life across the community,” said Mike Carrucan, CEO, EVR. “This purchase reflects our ongoing commitment to investing in community infrastructure that is a focal point for so many in Fernie. The Fernie Memorial Arena is central to the community and supports active lifestyles for people of all ages.”
“On behalf of the City of Fernie, I want to extend our sincere thanks to Elk Valley Resources for this generous investment in our community,” said City of Fernie Mayor Nic Milligan. “A new Zamboni will support the many residents, athletes, and organizations who use our busy Fernie Memorial Arena each season, helping us maintain high-quality ice and support great experiences. We appreciate EVR’s ongoing partnership and dedication to enhancing recreational opportunities for our community and the communities in our region.”
Until the new unit arrives, the current resurfacer will remain in operation. Planning and coordination are underway to ensure a smooth transition when the new equipment is delivered and commissioned in late 2026.
