Raglan Mine Wins John T. Ryan National Trophy for a Second Time!
| Date: 08/05/2020
The John T. Ryan trophy is awarded by the Canadian Institute of Mining (CIM) to the safest mine operation in Canada.
This is the second time that Raglan Mine receives this prestigious pan-Canadian award since the beginning of its operations in 1997; the first time was in 2001.
A huge thank you to our employees for their sustained efforts. They have earned this recognition!
Being first at national level does not come about by chance. It is the fruit of constant efforts by each and every one of them.
In 2019, our workers implemented more than 51,000 preventive actions and initiatives. Congratulations to all of you!
About the John T. Ryan Trophee
In 1941, the Canadian mining industry was making every effort possible to produce metals and minerals for war supplies. It was important, given the work environment at the time, to optimize safe production. In order to recognize notable achievement, the Mine Safety Appliances suggested to the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) to create a trophy. The first trophy, named the John T. Ryan Trophy to honour the founder of Mine Safety Appliances, was won by the Chesterville Mine near Virginiatown, Ontario.
